I dropped off the check to Chevy Chase bank this AM. The bank saidthey'd call the family to let them know that our letter (with the listof donors) is also at the bank whenever they'd like to pick it up.

The finally tally was $1,511 and 31 donations.

Thanks again to all of you for your generosity. It was such anhonor to be able to deliver a check like that to the bank for theFernandez family -- not only because it's a nice big chunk of changethat will help out a lot, but because it represents so much caring andcommunity support for neighbors who are enduring unspeakable tragedy.

The chipin event has now closed. I'msorry for any confusion -- when i set it up I ALSO thought itwould collect money until the END of Monday June 29th but apparentlyit closed this AM because it says it's no longer accepting donations.

And Ithought about setting up a new chip-in event, but to beperfectly honest, due to the wonderfully unanticipated success of thischip in page, I can't afford to cover/donate any more of the transactionfees(sorry!) on top of the personal donation we've already made.

That said you can still help out if you got here a little too late!

Hyattsville resident Ana Fernandez was killed on Monday, June 22nd in the Metrorail crash near the Fort Totten station, leaving behind six children, ranging from a toddler to a young adult
